Zambian Government Scraps 3 Zeros From Currency Kwacha

Zambian Government Scraps 3 Zeros From Currency Kwacha

January 23, 2012  |  Enterprise  |

Government has rebased the Zambian Kwacha by dividing the current notes by 1000, consequently knocking out three zeros from all the denominations.

This means the K1, 000 will be K1, K5, 000 will be K5 while K50, 000 will become K50.

Somewhat this brings sanity to our currency and does that mean we’ll see the use of coins again?

Anyone with more info please fill us in.

Thank you.
